What does “Related Articles” mean?

December 3, 2012January 29, 2015 Adam Ungstad

The problem with the category “Related Articles” is that it is a synonym for “Miscellaneous.”

To be more effective the term should state how the other articles are related – such as “More Sushi Cook Books” or “More General Electric Stoves Under $1000.”  Stating the relationship of something with suggested items makes the suggestions more relevant to the user.

A miscellaneous field such as “Related Articles” can sometimes be of use – it can aid discovery within a particular collection by helping users find “what they didn’t know they were looking for.”  Suggested items are more relevant to the user if they are grouped together by a specific relationship.
